Personality, Personality
Personality: Elizabeth grew during the past years, during her adventures with pirates, to be an independent-minded, spirited young lady. She's gone a long way until then, being brought up as a governor's daughter she first was rather a modest, well-mannered lady, who hardly dared to ever say her own opinion in front of others. However, she always has been fascinated by pirates and the freedom they found in sailing the seas. When she herself got to taste this freedom, she began to change from this young, reserved lady to a more stubborn, headstrong woman, finally showing her 'wild' nature.
Ever after she has been thrown into a pirate's life, she still retrains her sense of propriety, her loyality to friends and beloved ones. She learned how to weild swords, she is even capable to defend herself against a couple of adversaries, and learned or is still learning seamanship. She often before has proven her natural leading qualities.
Specialty: Elizabeth could be compared to the chinese Jian weapon in some way: Elegant and most civilized, and yet deadly, the weapon ended up to be used preferably by pirates. In her way, Elizabeth is unpredictable. Yet so well-mannered as a lady in every possible situation, she is enormously headstrong to make her plans become true, and a deadly weapon against anyone who infuriated or hurted her or someone she deeply cares for.
Friends: As in allies: Governor Weatherby Swann, William Turner, Jack Sparrow, Mr. Gibbs and, under specific circumstances, James Norrington and Hector Barbossa.
Enemies: Lord Cutler Beckett and the EITC, Davy Jones.
Brief Backstory:
Elizabeth Swann, the daughter of Weatherby Swann (her mother had died during her birth), sailed alongside her father from London to Port Royal in Jamaica at the age of 12, for Mr. Swann had taken up governorship there. During the trip, she found a young boy floating in the sea, and the ship's crew, Mr. Gibbs and James Norrington being part of them, saved him. This boy happened to be William Turner II, the son of a pirate. However, no one, not even he himself, was aware of this fact save Elizabeth, who found a pirate medallion hanging around his neck. Ever since then, Elizabeth secretly grew very fond of Will. However, knowing she was a woman of high status, she was well aware that she was not to marry him.
She grew up in the high society of Port Royal. At a young age already she often fantasized about pirates and life at sea. She read many books concerning most famous pirates, their adventures and the pirate code. Her fantasy may have been fueled somewhat by her association with William Turner, knowing he had pirate blood running through his veins.
8 years after arriving Port Royal, Commodore James Norrington proposed to Elizabeth, however, she was unable to answer for she fainted and fell down a cliff, only to be saved by the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. Sparrow was arrested on this day, and in the night she was kidnapped by the crew of the Black Pearl, lead by Captain
Barbossa. The medaillon she had taken from Will Turner had called them, for only with the help of this peace they would be able to lift a curse. Will Turner, whose blood they needed, aided by Captain Jack Sparrow, came to her rescue, and to rescue him in return, she needed to accept Norrington's proposal. Finally, back in Port Royal safely, Will confessed his love for her during the execution of Jack Sparrow, just before saving Jack. She returned his love, breaks the engagement with Norrington and the two set off to be married.
On the day of their wedding, however, she and Will were arrested by Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company for helping Jack Sparrow escape his execution. Will was sent on a mission by Beckett to recover an item from Jack Sparrow and in return Elizabeth would be set free. Elizabeth escaped her captivity, however, with the help of her father, hired on a ship to find Will and Jack with him, and eventually ends up in the arms of her fiancé again. The Kraken, wishing to chew on Jack Sparrow by the orders of Davy Jones, who's after Jack's soul, attacked their ship. Knowing it to be the only way to save her, Will and the rest of the crew, Elizabeth kissed and sacrificed Jack to the Kraken.
Elizabeth feels deep remorse for killing Jack and seeks to help rescue him from Davy Jones Locker, even though it means teaming up with Captain Barbossa, the very man that kidnapped her barely a year ago.
